Software engineering and agility as drivers of digital transformation

Addressing digital transformation requires dynamic capabilities and strong management and governance approaches throughout the software development lifecycle. Hence, software engineering continues to be, at present, one of the most approached topics in the scientific communities of Information and Communication Technologies. It is an area where significant changes have also been experienced towards more agile and collaborative philosophies, as required by the dynamics of transformations experienced by modern society. This editorial provides an outline of agility and software engineering to introduce a special section dedicated to it in the issue.
