Many are the problems that today afflict Cuban organizations in the area of Information Technology (IT). Undoubtedly it is complex to identify and solve them to avoid the emergence of negative effects in organizational management. The objective is to identify the main problems associated with IT that affect the functioning of the Cuban business sector. The research is based on theoretical, empirical and deductive-conclusive methods; complemented with the review of publications and the consultation of specialists, as well as consultancy studies carried out in more than 123 organizations in Havana. The stages followed to fulfill the objective are described; as well as its results. The result of the diagnosis allows supporting improvement plans related to IT based on identified problems. They are related to the management of changes caused by IT; its strategic planning, its evaluation or other situations in which the IT resource has to be taken into account in the framework of decision-making processes.
